PERSONAL BRANDING: WORTH IT?

Is it worth branding yourself online as a blogger or freelancer?

Is it worth branding yourself in your market? As a company or a freelancer, you might find that you have very little time to promote yourself and feel it is not worth it. Your main focus is promoting your product and service ONLY. But what if I told you that your brand and product or service are all connected. It’s kind of like the chicken and the egg.

Let’s read on…

It is human nature to desire some form of success and prosperity. However, not everyone is able to achieve enough altitude to rocket to success.

Why is that?

So, what is the reason behind some people not being successful while others are extremely efficacious?

One word…

Courage! The answer is COURAGE. While some people are courageous enough to brand themselves and network well, others are quiet and laid back about life. To be in the same league as those you consider to be successful, you need to take action with these steps.

1) UNDERSTANDING WHAT BRANDING IS:

Before branding yourself, you need to be clear about its meaning! One part of branding involves having a unique visual representation and message that sets you apart from others. Your brand (name, image, logo etc.) should be something that attracts your market group as soon as they view it, even for a millisecond!

In order to come up with this, you are going to have to think out of the box and try to come up with something extremely inventive and ground-breaking. (wow that seems difficult!)

Well, this is the quickest way people to connect with your audience and keep them thinking of you.

2) WHAT’S THE REASON BEHIND YOUR BRAND:

Before you make your personal brand, you need to know why you are going for it. There might be a number of reasons why you would want to brand yourself or your brand blog. These might include changing your market perception, redefining your network or improving the chances of you getting a better job.

If you are looking for ways to increase sales of your company, your brand or your blog, you would like to be noticeable in the market and for that, you need a really strong brand image.

3)    MAKE YOURSELF AVAILABLE:

Your visibility will ensure your growth in the market! If people surfing on the internet can find you easily, you will be able to make a difference! Being noticeable is the key. In the era of social media, being visible is even more of a big deal than ever.

All you need to do is to be there in the search results as much as possible. So much so that when people decided to search for your brand’s name or your name on Google, you are the first thing to pop up on the screen.

For a strong personal brand, a strong online presence is the key to success. You can achieve this through blogging, social media promotions and SEO optimisation.

4)    TARGET AN AUDIENCE:

In order to get the maximum out of your actions, you need to work smart not harder! You don’t pay a plumber to work hard fixing on the pipes (that’s what you will do if you attempt doing it), you pay the plumber to fix it as quickly as possible.

The best way to maximise your time and effort is by marketing directly to the people, niche, who are interested or have a need for what you are selling.

5)    KEEP GROWING:

Growth is that one thing which is always required everywhere and in everything. If you have branded yourself and you are the only person doing everything, you will find that there is a limit to how far you can grow because there isn’t enough time in a day.

When you are unique, the scope of growth is always there. When you target a niche market there is also a potential for growth too.

All you need to do is be a bit more active communicating in groups, events and gatherings while finding areas you can improve on. You may or may not be fully aware of your skills and talents so try focus on a few tasks and delegate the rest.
